There are many farmhouse restaurants in Andong.
The first farmhouse one is ‘Tteul’
It’s a 15-minute drive north of downtown Andong.

The second restaurant in Andong that I’m going to introduce today is ‘Andong Hwa ryun’.
You have to drive down from downtown Andong for about twenty minutes.
Andong Farmhouse Taste House located in a iljik-myeon, Andong City.
The atmosphere of an ordinary family home, ANDONG HWA-RYUN.
As the name suggests, this is a restaurant that uses lotus leaves and lotus flowers.
The owner farm his own crops, and make a fermented food with it. And He makes simple lotus food and tea with his lotus.
There are two main meals,
Hwa-ryun table d’hôte & Chae-ryun table d’hôte.
Because I come alone, I can’t have the Hwa-ryun table d’hôte.
Instead, i’m going to eat a Chae-ryun table d’hôte.
A simple decor in a quiet homely atmosphere. Sit down and wait for the food to come out and look around.
It’s lotus rice wrapped in lotus leaves. Start to put my nose to it and smelling it.
It is full of the smell of savory lotus leaf. My mouth is watering now.
It’s a clean and tidy table.
Andong salted mackerel and various side dishes.
It must be a carefully prepared dish. Color, ingredients, taste, and smell are all excellent.

The taste of chewy glutinous rice is art.
Dessert served after meals. Lotus leaf tea with rice cake and yakbak(flavored glutinous rice mixed with honey, dates, chestnuts, etc)
And was that an apple vinegar? Was it a lotus leaf vinegar?
I don’t remember much.
It’s vinegar, anyway.
Less sour vinegar.
There are so many things to eat in Andong.
The water is clean and the air is clear. The crops grow well, clean and fresh.
Historically, Andong have a tremendous cultural heritage, but they also have tremendous quality in food and ingredients.
