Anmyeondo island is a lias coast, and coastal sand dunes and coastal sand beach are well developed on the village coast.
The coastal sand beach was all developed, and the coastal sand dune became a source of silica.
Before the Anmyun Bridge was founded in 1968, it was an isolated island.
The northern part belonged to Taean and the southern part to Gwangcheon.
However, since the bridge was built, deals have been made mostly with Taean village. The cultural relics include a clamshell mound in Sinyari and a cluster of goldenrain tree designated as natural monuments.
Anmyeon means “sleep well”. It is considered an geographical name representing the natural environment that is littered with forests.
Taean city is a peninsula surrounded by the sea on all three sides except for the east, and is the only “Coast National Park” in Korea, making it a scenic sight everywhere on the coastline.
Therefore, Taean city created a trekking course called ‘Taean Beach Road’ with the theme of the beach road.
The legend of the Halmi(Grandma), Halabi(Grandpa) Rock
When Jang Bogo was stationed in Cheonghaejin in the middle of the ninth century, a general named Seung-eon was dispatched to Anmyun-do as commander.
The general had a beautiful wife, and the conjugal harmony between the couple was very good.
When the people around him were jealous of their conjugal harmony, the general built a house on two rocky islands on the sea and lived apart from his wife.
But when the general did not return from the expedition, his wife, who had been waiting for him, became a rock.
Later, another rock appeared next to his wife’s rock, and people called the two rocks “Halli Halabi Rock”
