There is a saying that “Only when the sun rises on Ganjeolgot, dawn will come to the Korean Peninsula”

It is the best place to see the sunrise in East sea of Korea along with Jeongdongjin and Homigot. The sun rises first on the Ganjeolgot, 5 minutes ahead of Jeongdongjin and 1 minute ahead of Homigot.

The fishermen who went out fishing looked at this place from the far sea, and they said it looked like a long bamboo pole, so it was named Ganjeolgot.

There are a white lighthouse standing on the top of the hill hoping for the safety of the ships that went out to sea and a big postbox, which is more impressive than lighthouse.

The small shelter, built at the end of the hill, has a nice bench so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sea while enjoying the sunrise.

At the entrance, road cafes selling a variety of teas and beverages along the hillside stand, giving off an exotic atmosphere, while sashimi restaurants are gathered on the other side to taste fresh seafood.

The Lighthouse, which first lit its lights on March 26, 1920, established a lighthouse public relations center and displayed beautiful lighthouse photos and materials explaining the role of lighthouse.

The coastal road that runs south from Ganjeolgot makes a wonderful drive course.
