The square was built around Sejong-ro, a central street in Seoul with a 600-year history.
The six-lane road was constructed into a square in the middle of the 16-lane road, with a square centered in Gwanghwamun, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, the U.S. Embassy and Kyobo Life Insurance building lined up.
The two edges of the square formed the “History Water Road” which is 1 meter wide and 365 meters long, and the east side of square recorded the major history from 1392 to 2008 when Joseon was founded.
In the northern grass square, visitors can enjoy a variety of flowers and plants, and in the winter, it is also used as a skating rink.
A cool fountain rises around the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-shin in the south, creating a scene in which citizens rest and children run around in the summer.
