Baekhab: A high-end shellfish comparable to abalone, used for court banquets, and shells were used as medicine containers or as white stones for baduk(go).

Unlike other shellfish, it was likened to chastity by not opening the mouth except when necessary. The beautiful shape and shell are tightly coupled, symbolizing the ‘harmony of husband and wife’ and must be included in the wedding meal in Japan.

On top of this, a table of side dishes, glazed young hairtail, onion kimchi and rice cake, made from Gochang’s seasonal produce, is served finely. The owner herself makes everything from kimchi and salted fish to rice cake, and her sincerity and skill are so good that she is praised as “real taste of Jeolla-do.

Fresh Raw baekhabs are special pleasures that can only be experienced in its producing district.
Roast Baekhabs are the most popular menu on the course. When you take off the foil, there is a lot of plump flesh on one side of the shell and a lot of white soup on the other.

When you drink the soup from soft baekhab, the smell of the sea spreads out. Baekhab soup are very strong and cool in the white broth that comes from the ingredients. Lastly, Baekhab porridge is cool and delicious if you put some ingredients that are good for your body and put some salted clams on it.
